Family-Friendly Experiences in Singapore

Cable Car Ride from Mt Faber to Sentosa

Kick off your family’s Sentosa adventure with a ride on the Singapore Cable Car because what’s more exciting than flying through the sky in a cabin with 360° views?

Start at Mount Faber Peak, where you can take a short walk through Faber Point, ring the Poland’s Bells of Happiness, or snap photos with the iconic Merlion topiary before boarding the cable car. Kids love watching the city skyline shrink below as you glide over treetops, cruise past cruise ships, and soar right into Sentosa Island.

Insider Tip: For an extra wow moment, consider upgrading to the SkyOrb Cabin - a futuristic chrome-finished spherical cabin with a see-through glass floor! It’s the only one of its kind in the world and makes the ride extra magical for adventurous little ones.

Where to Hop Off and What to Do

  • Sentosa Station (Main Gateway) - The best stop if you want to explore Imbiah Lookout attractions, like the SkyHelix, Madame Tussauds, and Trick Eye Museum. Perfect starting point for a half or full day of fun.

  • Merlion Station (closed for now but near Imbiah Lookout)– Used to be near the old Merlion statue; now a photo spot with lush greenery.

  • Siloso Point Station - Great for active kids. Visit Fort Siloso Skywalk, explore bunkers, or head to Siloso Beach for sandcastle-building or a splash at the beach clubs.

  • Beach Station– Get off here for Palawan Beach, Port of Lost Wonder (if reopened), and the Sentosa Express. You’ll also find the Sentosa Tram here to get to Tanjong or Siloso Beach easily.

Ticket Tips

  • Get the Cable Car Sky Pass for unlimited rides all day between Mount Faber and Sentosa lines.

  • Look out for family packages and seasonal promotions (school holiday deals are common!).

Mandai Wildlife Adventures

If you only have time for one big family day out in Singapore, make it Mandai Wildlife Reserve. This sprawling nature haven in the north is home to four amazing animal parks, each packed with unforgettable experiences for curious kids (and parents too!).

  • Singapore Zoo

World-famous for a reason! See orangutans, elephants, and white tigers in beautifully open habitats. Don't miss Rainforest KidzWorld for water play, pony rides, and feeding goats.

  • River Wonders

Meet giant pandas Kai Kai and Jia Jia, take a boat ride through the Amazon, and explore fascinating river habitats. It’s stroller-friendly and perfect for younger kids.

  • Night Safari

The world’s first nocturnal wildlife park, where kids can ride a tram past lions and leopards under the stars. A little spooky, a lot of fun — great for slightly older kids.

  • Bird Paradise

Singapore’s newest wildlife gem! Walk through giant aviaries, feed colourful birds, and let kids cool off at Egg Splash, the fun water play zone.

Smart Parent Tip: Bundle your tickets, go early, and bring swimsuits for the water play zones. If you have time, split your visit across two days — it's worth it.

Top tip: Combine Singapore Zoo + River Wonders for a full and manageable family adventure, then save Bird Paradise or Night Safari for another day!

3. KidsSTOP at the Science Centre

If your little ones love to touch, explore, and ask "why?", then KidsSTOP at the Science Centre Singapore is a total win. Designed specifically for children aged 18 months to 8 years old, this vibrant, hands-on learning space makes science fun, approachable, and incredibly interactive.

More than just a gallery, KidsSTOP is a mini science city where children can role-play, experiment, and discover through imaginative play. The space is divided into themed zones that encourage exploration across science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), all presented in ways that are fun, safe, and kid-sized.

What to expect?

  • The Innovation Lab

Let your child don a lab coat and goggles while they tinker with simple machines, test ideas, and explore how things work.

  • Flight & Space Zone

Curious about astronauts? Kids can learn about space travel, explore a model cockpit, and pretend they’re piloting a rocket through space!

  • Supermarket & Café Role-Play Area

Kids love pretending to shop for groceries or serve you lunch at their mini café counter. It’s not just fun—it’s a great way to build confidence, communication skills, and math sense.

  • Dino Pit & Nature Zones

Little palaeontologists can “excavate” dinosaur bones, explore fossils, and learn about natural history through touchable displays and activities.

  • The Big Dream Climber

A multi-level climbing structure that lets kids scale colourful tunnels and bridges while learning about gravity, momentum, and coordination—all without realising they’re learning science!

Family Tips

  • Tickets are affordable (usually under $15 per child) and sold in sessions, so it's best to book in advance, especially on weekends or school holidays.

  • Each session runs for around 2 hours, which is just the right amount of time before little ones get tired.

  • It’s indoor and air-conditioned, making it a perfect rainy day or hot weather option.

  • The Science Centre itself is right next door, and you can easily pair a trip to KidsSTOP with a visit to the Omni-Theatre or one of the Science Centre’s larger exhibits for older siblings.

4. Mini Golf and Splash Tribe at Sentosa

Sentosa isn’t just about beaches and cable cars - it’s packed with fun, family-friendly activities, and Mini Golf + Splash Tribe is one of the best combos for an easy, active day out with kids.

  • Mini Golf at Sentosa

Bring out your family’s playful side with a round of mini golf at Palawan Beach’s mini golf course. It’s a simple, timeless activity that works for all ages - whether your child is taking their first swing or perfecting their putting skills. The colourful courses, quirky obstacles, and shaded areas make it a relaxed and laughter-filled outing.

Tip: Go in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. It’s a great warm-up before hitting the water!

  • Splash Tribe at The Palawan @ Sentosa

Splash Tribe is a beachfront water play zone designed especially for little ones. Think shallow splash pools, gentle slides, water jets, and loads of space to run, play, and cool off safely.

What sets Splash Tribe apart is the chill beach-club vibe for families - adults can lounge nearby with a drink or a snack while the kids go wild in the water. The zone is secure, clean, and thoughtfully built for young children to play freely.

Bonus: There are food trucks and casual dining options right nearby, so you can grab burgers, bubble tea, coconut shakes or iced treats without leaving the area.

How to Plan It

  • Pair the two activities for a half-day itinerary: start with mini golf, then reward everyone with splash time.

  • Bring swimsuits, towels, and sunscreen - there’s plenty of open-air fun!

  • Book Splash Tribe entry in advance during weekends or holidays, as it can get popular.

Let the kids set the pace - mini golf for laughs, splash time for cooling off, and snacks to recharge. It’s a winning combo for a carefree family day.

5. Buds & Splash at Shangri-La

If you're staying at the Shangri-La Singapore on Orange Grove Road, you're in for a real treat - especially if you're travelling with kids. The hotel goes above and beyond with its Buds by Shangri-La and Splash Zone, two thoughtfully designed play areas that make it a mini paradise for families.

  • Buds by Shangri-La (Indoor Playground)

This massive indoor playground is a wonderland of interactive zones, colourful slides, soft play structures, and themed activity rooms. There are dedicated spaces for toddlers as well as more adventurous zones for older children, including art, music, and cooking activity rooms - perfect for creative and curious minds.

Everything is clean, safe, and well-staffed, making it ideal for letting the kids burn off energy while you enjoy a coffee break or spa treatment nearby. It’s fully air-conditioned, so it’s also a great option for rainy days or hot afternoons.

  • Splash Zone (Outdoor Water Play Area)

Just outside Buds is the Splash Zone, a beautifully designed mini water park complete with shallow pools, water jets, tipping buckets, and child-sized slides. Surrounded by tropical greenery and set within the serene hotel grounds, it feels like your own private water world.

There are lounge chairs for parents, shaded areas, and even nearby dining options if you want to make it a lazy afternoon by the pool.

Perfect for toddlers to tweens, and a dream for parents who want to relax while their kids stay happily occupied. Even if you're not staying at Shangri-La, day passes to Buds can be purchased (subject to availability), making it a great escape for local families too.

Tip: If you’re staying overnight, ask about the family rooms - some come with kid-friendly décor, bunk beds, and welcome packs. Also, book Buds sessions in advance during peak holiday seasons.

When you need a break from the sights, or just want to do a bit of shopping alongside some kid-centric fun, these malls are sure to keep children engaged:
